Lisa Mychols and Super8

Marty Scott, President of JEM Records made the announcement May 18th. “I am pleased to have signed Lisa Mychols & Super 8 to the JEM roster. They convey something pure and magical. Some say they can’t be easily categorized, and others call them Symphonic Pop. I just find them captivating!”

JEM will release the band’s first LP on JEM Records in 2022. They will be participating on the next JEM Records Celebrates album which will be released this summer.

The dynamic duo have never met each other. They are “Queen of Power Pop” Lisa Mychols, AKA Ellie from sunny California, and Paul Ryan, AKA Trip from overseas in Scotland. Lisa’s first musical outing was her album “Lost Winter’s Dream” where she was accompanied by The Wondermints, who later became Brian Wilson’s touring band. She also has released four solo albums. Trip said his “non-claim to fame” was auditioning with Giles Martin, who was planning to orchestrate for him but instead curated The Beatles back catalogue. “I guess you can say I was bumped by the Beatles!” Trip said. “Fair enough then!”

They may be far apart in miles, but they create super original music. Lisa and Trip are gifted songwriters. Trip plays all of the instruments and makes the melody tweaks. Lisa then sends her vocal parts back and Trip adds bells and whistles. Kurt Reil of The Grip Weeds mixed the tracks at House of Vibes in Highland Park, NJ.

The listener is challenged to pigeon-hole this music that has elements of many genres in it. Referred to as Prog Pop and Symphonic Pop occasionally, it is much more. Trip said his mood can range from Classical Music to Classic Rock, Independent Pop, Afro-Pop, or even Folky stuff. Lisa Mychols & Super 8 have a great vibe.
